Where is the diamond in a segmented
diamond saw blade?

In a diamond tool the diamond
abrasive is only one of the constituents of the tool. The main
components would be the body or core of the tool and then the
cutting elements or segments in which the diamond is held. The
segments are usually manufactured from metal powder such as
cobalt, iron, bronze or nickel and contain diamond particles
randomly distributed within the metal. The mix of metal and powder
is sintered together in a furnace an then attached to the tool
body.
