What is meant by 'hard' and 'soft' grinding wheel?
The terms hard and soft used in this context do not refer to the indentation hardness of the abrasive layer of the grinding wheel. A wheel refered to as 'hard' normally means that the bond is abrasion resistant, a 'soft' wheel by contrast has a bond which is less abrasion resistant and therefore tends to grind with lower forces.
